Here is a sample 3 day, 3 night itinerary to give you some ideas for your Spring Break stay (or any upcoming visit!) Each day is a perfect blend of fun and may include some outdoor activities, beach fun, history, wildlife and family entertainment.

Check out our rainy day blog ideas in case of rainy weather.

DAY 1
Go to Ecola State Park in Cannon Beach to see migrating Gray Whales.  Whale Watching Week is March 24th-31st and there are often volunteers at Ecola State Park during the week that can help point out the whale’s spouts off the coast. Note that there is a $5 fee for day use at this park.

After looking for whales, drive down to Indian Beach in Ecola State Park to hike the kid friendly 2 1/2 mile historical interpretive route called the Clatsop Loop Trail; you can see Tillamook Rock Lighthouse, the ocean, the forest and a short detour will take you to a waterfall.

After working up an appetite, head down to the town of Cannon Beach for lunch.

Plan a visit to the beach at low tide to check out the famous 235 foot tall Haystack Rock and the tide pools there. If you are visiting on a Saturday, you can take advantage of the Friends of Haystack Rock Volunteers giving tours. Look for Tufted puffins on the rock, they come in late March, early April.

Visit Cannon Beach Bakery to warm up with hot chocolate and coffee and a pastry and visit some galleries in town or shop a little.

Stay overnight with us. Here is a link to our properties in Cannon Beach and Seaside.

DAY 2

Rent bikes in Seaside, and ride the 1.5 mile ‘prom’ (promenade) along the beach. Get some sand between your toes on the beach and swing on one of the swing sets on the beach.

Head over to the Seaside Carousel Mall for some good old fashioned fun, or if you have older kids with you, Funland Arcade might be the right choice. If you still have energy you can head down to the Necanicum River, near the convention center to rent a kayak, a paddle boat or a stand up paddle board from Wheel Fun Rentals.

Enjoy a treat at Sea Star Gelato where all of the gelato is made from scratch. They also have dairy-free sorbetto options. Relax with a nice meal in town and stay with us overnight.

DAY 3

Spend some time today learning more about history. Head north to Warrenton and visit Fort Stevens, only about 30 minutes north of Seaside. The fort saw service for 84 years, from the Civil War to World War II. You can explore the fort and walk or ride a bike on miles of paved paths. Head to the beach where kids will love to see the historic Peter Iredale ship that ran aground in 1906 on Clatsop Beach.

For some adrenaline pumping adventure go on a 8 zipline tour at Highlife Adventures, less than 15 minutes from the fort. The ziplines will take you over ponds, through the forest and a 7 acre lake.

Treat yourself at the Chocolate Cafe in Cannon Beach. They sell chocolate, shakes, hot chocolate, tea and cookies.

Stay with us and relax, you’ve earned it!
