It is time to get out and explore! We all need rejuvenation and the outdoors and ocean are perfect for this.

Below are some Summer Fun ideas to inspire you on your next trip to Seaside or Cannon Beach, Oregon.

Fire

If you're visiting one of our Seaside hotels, purchase our s’mores kit and enjoy an evening by our fire pits, or create a bonfire on the beach. This website from the Seaside’s Visitor’s Association has some great tips about where and where not to build fires.

History

This area of the coast has quite a few historical spots to visit. Head north to Warrenton and visit Fort Stevens, only about 30 minutes north of Seaside. The fort saw service for 84 years, from the Civil War to World War II. You can explore the fort and walk or ride a bike on miles of paved paths. Head to the beach where kids will love to see the historic Peter Iredale ship that ran aground in 1906 on Clatsop Beach.

Visit Fort Clatsop, the winter encampment for the Corps of Discovery (Lewis and Clark and their expedition) from December 1805 to March 1806. The visitor center includes a replica of Fort Clatsop similar to the one built by the explorers, and an interpretive center.

Get on the water

Rent a surfboard or boogie board to enjoy the Pacific Ocean. If you’re not up to braving the salty cold ocean stick to the slow-moving Necanicum River or Sunset Lake with a kayak or paddle board, or one of the fun giant peddle swans.

Shop and eat your way through the North Coast

Window shop, or enjoy tax free shopping at art galleries and unique shops in Seaside and Cannon Beach. The Seaside Outlets in Seaside off of Highway 101 will give you name brands at a discount.

Find sweet treats at bakeries and candy shops or seafood, Italian, Mexican food and more.
